The house on the rock

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."Matthew 7:24-25

Thirty days. Thirty words. And Jesus closes the month with the story He Himself chose to end the greatest sermon in history: two builders, two houses, and one detail that changes everything. The rain came down, the streams rose, the winds blew... on BOTH houses. The storm didn't spare the wise man. The difference was never the weather; it was the foundation.

And what is the foundation? Jesus defines it precisely: "everyone who HEARS these words of mine AND PUTS THEM INTO PRACTICE." Hear and practice: the same message as day 5, now from the mouth of the Master Himself, as the conclusion of everything. Thirty days of reading were the "hearing." The foundation gets built in what comes now: the patience practiced on Monday, the anxiety cast on Wednesday, the forgiveness given on Saturday, the morning begun with Him.

Because the storm comes. Jesus didn't say "if"; He said "the rain came down." It comes for everyone: the news, the loss, the crisis that gives no warning. And it's in the storm that you find out what the thirty days built. The house on the sand and the house on the rock looked identical from the outside, on a sunny day. Only the gale revealed the foundation.
